ABOUT OUR NATIVE WOOD - KAURI

The kauri tree, Agathis australis, is New Zealand’s largest and most famous native tree. Kauri are among the world's mightiest trees, growing to over 50m tall, with trunk girths up to 16m, and living for over 2,000 years. The Kauri tree is considered 'taonga' (Sacred Treasure) by Maori, and is seen a a living embodiment of ancestral heritage and resilience.

This rare bowl has multiple coats of Danish oil to enhance that natural lustre of the Kauri.
