Pounamu | Greenstone Disc Earrings with Sterling Silver Hooks
Hand Carved New Zealand Totoweka Pounamu by Donna Summers.
Totoweka (Toto meaning blood, Weka being the native NZ woodhen) is a rare and striking form of New Zealand Greenstone, characterized by its red, blood-like markings. Sourced from the West Coast of the South Island and carved in Hokitika.
As a child, Donna was taught that pounamu is a precious taonga, a sacred gift that is passed down through the generations. While working with creating the traditional motifs she takes inspiration from the Far North where she grew up, whether it was spending hours at the beach fossicking or out in the far north wilderness.
Her work continues to evolve. Donna's intuitive carving reflects her skilled eye for beautiful design. Her pieces speak for themselves.
